Néna Kissa M’R. A question. An answer, as 'Nena Kissa?' it's a Creole locution to say 'Who is this? Who is here ?'. The answer consists of two letters and an apostrophe: 'M'R'. But Néna is also a first name.
It has become hers.
Néna Kissa M’R mixes French song with world music.
Trained on the piano by Madame Andrée Basset (soloist of the Conservatory of Saint-Etienne), she evolves, with her, towards ragtime and jazz. She loves rock, funk, groove made in US, French variety as much as poetry including that of Paul Eluard and Alain Peters. In 2005, she met Reunion Island and world music, accompanied by the french label Kabl'Art. This special Creole soul made up of human, cultural openness, blues and maloya, becomes the breeding ground through which she nourishes her personal and artistic journey. Music, for her, is an 'One' : an 'One' made of 'All'. This is the flamboyant energy that she transmits now.
Production, price & digital distribution
She has produced until now two EPs and three singles : La boca remix (s.2022), La boca (s.2019), 'D'autre monde live' (ep 2017), Felicidad (s. 2012) and 'Endémique' (ep 2011). Since the release of "Endémique", Nena is also broadcasted by foreign FM radiostations.
Now for history, she received the SACEM prize by Jeanne Talon, director of Olympia in 2012. From there, and thanks to festivals and theater programmers, she meet her public localy first and then nationnaly : The Batofar in Paris, The Fil St-Etienne, The Festival of the French Song of Montluçon... KABL'ART (supported by the Ministry of Culture) helped her development until 2020. The collaboration was really fruitful: two EP 'Endemique', 'D'autre monde (live)' and two single 'Felicidad' and 'La boca' and a show 'Côté là ... Cours !!'.
In 2013/2014, she created the show "Côté-là ... Cours !! and Eric Martin the famous programmer from of the Casa Musicale in Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-D'Or (near Lyon) welcomes her residence. In 2015 and 2016, the show will be presented at the 'Théâtre de Ménilmontant', 'Festival Solidaires des Arènes de Montmartre' and the 'Théâtre le nOmbril du monde' in particular.
In 2017, Néna Kissa M'R presents the EP "D'autre monde live". It is a testimony of the changing times and maturity for her. The tone is more serious. Maloya blackens the ivory of the piano. Between homage to Alain Peters ('Rest'la maloya' rearranged) and mix of jazz, groove and Latin, Néna Kissa M'R, whose voice flirts with the blues, installs her universe where the song and the pop meet the jazz, the groove and the latin rythms.
Néna Kissa M'R signs with ASCOT MUSIC and BELIEVE the digital distribution agreement of her discography in 2018. The songs are now available for streaming and download (Spotify, Deezer, iTunes, Netease Cloud Music China). The same year, Nena is revelation of the french radio 'France Bleu Saint-Etienne Loire'.
In 2019, she announced the preparation of the first album and, at the same time, released the feat of 'Vertige remix' from the EP 'Autre monde live' with MysterMix from the label GarnierA.
In 2020/21, Néna Kissa M’R joins Paris. She is surrounded by a new and very beautiful team, headed by Georges Blumenfeld, boss of the legendary STUDIO MARCADET as co-producer, and Shakä Râ Mutela (Papa Wemba, Carlos Santana…), sound-designer. The musicians are Marc Chantereau, on percussion, Shakä Râ Mutela and Thierry Fanfant on bass, Yoko Taniguchi on violin, Alberto Feijo on acoustic guitar (Bonga), Yann Benoist and Olivier Louvel on electrics guitars and Arnaud Dolmen on drums.
On April 29, 2022, LA BOCA REMIX, with its evocative name, is finally released on digital platforms.
The cover made by the artist confirms the change of image. It is a Néna who opposes resilience to adversity! It is also a joyful and free Néna who makes the words of the fight dance on a title with festive musicality, made to untie the bodies and the spirits after two extraordinary years for all! So 'cicadas' dance now!
